What is a physical exam?

During a physical exam at Palm Desert Urgent Care, Dr. Kazi makes sure you’re healthy and screens for illnesses, diseases, and other health issues to prevent serious complications. The Palm Desert Urgent Care team offers the following physicals:

  • Wellness exams
  • U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) physicals
  • School, sports, or camp physicals

  • Post-injury exams

Attending a physical exam every year is an excellent preventive medicine strategy. It’s sometimes necessary before beginning work, playing sports, attending school or camps, and applying for a green card or U.S. citizenship.

What happens during a physical exam?

Dr. Kazi completes the following during physical exams at Palm Desert Urgent Care:

Medical history review

During a medical history review, Dr. Kazi discusses your medical history and symptoms. He asks questions about previous injuries, past surgeries, medical conditions you’ve had, and medications you currently take.

Physical exam

During a physical exam, Dr. Kazi checks your weight, blood pressure, pulse, and other vital signs. He evaluates your eyes, ears, nose, throat, abdomen, reflexes, breathing, and heartbeat. He might also complete vision and hearing tests.

Diagnostic testing

If you’re at risk or exhibit symptoms of an illness or disease or require drug testing as a condition of employment, Dr. Kazi may recommend a blood test, urine test, throat swab, imaging procedures, or other diagnostic tests to detect or rule out medical issues.

You might require treatment after your physical exam if you have an illness, disease, or injury. Dr. Kazi may recommend lifestyle changes, medications, vaccinations, or a minor surgical procedure in some cases.

Paperwork completion

After you pass a physical exam, Dr. Kazi fills out the appropriate exam forms required as a condition of employment, citizenship, attending school, or participating in sports.
